Massive thanks need to go the students and staff of Years 8 & 9 from Forest Lake State High School who donated over 1500 cans and around 100 litres of water and lots of flour, sugar and rice.  You can check out the photos here.

Packing Party This Saturday

Just a reminder to all that we are packing the shipping container this Saturday before its epic journey.  We will be packing the container from 9.30 till around 1pm at 3 Akora St, Slacks Creek.  So we would love to see you all with some gear for Samoa.

We will be having a sausage sizzle as part of the festivities to feed the hungry horde that will help us pack the container.

If you read the post below you will find out that we have found out that the biggest needs we have for the shipping container is for bulk food.  I currently have a price of $9.50 for a 12.5 kg bag of plain flour.  I will be calling more places in the morning.  There are 100 bags per pallet.  We can do a half a pallet.  I will be following up the cost of water tomorrow and will post that as soon as we know.

We4 have already had $100 donated specifically to this cause.  So if you can afford to please get on board.  If you go to the Contact Us page you can leave a comment and we will tell you how you can put the money in our account.

We have just in the last couple of hours received news from our contacts in Samoa as to where the real need currently is.  They have a real need for water, rice, flour and brown sugar.

We are currently attempting to get some prices for bulk of these items.  IF you have not purchased anything for the appeal yet we would welcome your donations of money.  As soon as we get the prices we will post them so as a family you may have enough money donate a couple of 10kg bags of rice etc.

Also remember this is the last week that we can accept donations for Reach 4 Samoa.  I hate to sound like a constantly droning thing but we really need to fill the container.  We don’t want the container to go all that way for the people on the other end to see a half empty container that close to Christmas.

Just to let you all know that our Internet Guru as been slaving over a hot keyboard and we have uploaded another 125 pictures from Saturday.

So we can improve our events we have a feedback page up and running now.   So if you attended on Saturday we would love to know what you thought.

We also have some updated pictures of people dropping off gear for the container.  We have a long way to go before it is full and look forward to more deliveries in the next week.

Here is the first financial update for the Reach for Samoa appeal.  On Saturday we raised $3806.70 at Touch 4 Samoa.  We have also received $500 from Logan City Council and $1269.95 from a collection taken at Kingston College.  Those figures combined take the appeal to $5576.65.  Which is a great effort so far and we look forward to more being raised towards this great cause.

The first 100 photo’s from Saturday have arrived onto the Touch 4 Samoa Photo page .  There will be more updates through out the week including how much was raised for this great cause.  We will also have a couple of more surprises up our sleeve for the website so please keep checking in.

Also around the 20th of November we will be releasing details of our next touch competition!  It pays to keep checking in on our website.

Touch 4 Samoa was a great day but it does not end there.  In the next day or two we will have a page with some of the photo’s of the day and a grand total of the funds that were raised.

We are also now totally focused on filling the shipping container to send to Samoa.  So if you can help in anyway please go to the contact page and let us know what you have to donate and when you would like to drop it off so we can ensure we have someone at the container to accept the delivery.
