Don’t Forget to Register!!

Oct
30

Please don’t forget that registration for teams for Touch 4 Samoa closes at 11.59 on Saturday night.  We will have to be very strict on this so we can prepare the draw and other materials in time for the tournament.

Orders for the t-shirts close at that time as well so we can get the shirts already for pick up on Saturday the 7th at the tournament.

If you didn’t think things are busy enough we are very proud to announce that under the Reach 4 Samoa page is a link about the shipping container of aid we are sending to Samoa.  With the very generous support of the good folk at Agility Logistics we will be sending a 20ft shipping container to the people of Samoa.  It is expected that we will be able to distribute the shipping container just before Christmas in the affected areas of Samoa that still need our help.  Please check out that page as to what can go to Samoa.  We are looking forward to putting lots of smiles on the peoples faces.

We will have a stand collecting the material at Touch 4 Samoa.  So if you have anything on the list please drop it down to Meakin Park on Saturday.

Don’t forget that you can still order the Krispy Kremes till 4.00pm on Monday.

Thank you for supporting Hardout Community Services in its efforts to help Samoa.

Touch 4 Samoa Update

Oct
29

This is just a quick update to remind everyone to keep checking in at this page for some announcements that will be coming in the next day or two.

We have had some team’s register already but we need all team registered by October the 31st so we can complete the draw and get everything organised for the 7th.

Also if you have not ordered your t-shirt yet please do so as we will only be printing shirts that have been ordered and paid for. We are trying to maximise the amount of money we can send to Samoa so there will be no shirts available to buy on the day.

Don’t forget to check back for the special announcements.

Who, Why, What?

Welcome to the web page for Hardout Community Services. This site will contain regular updates as to the work that is being done by Hardout Community Services.

This first blog is to explain who we are as an organisation and why we do what we do and what we are planning to do in the future.

Who:

  • As it says on the top of this page we are a grassroots organisation dedicated to us helping us love our neighbours.  Bascially we are a bunch of people who give of our time,  energy and money that are  committed to having an impact on those around us.  It might be the people of Logan City where we are based, it may be the people of Queensland and Australia or it may even be further a field.  Our first major projects are dedicated to helping the people of Samoa after the devastation they have experienced in October 2009.
  • A major stakeholder in our endeavours is the Logan Community Church of the Nazarene
  • We are committed to working in collaboration with existing services and support agencies that are having an impact on our community.

Why:

  • We want to do everything we do to be done  ”Hardout” which means it is done strongly and passionately.
  • We believe that it takes a community to impact a community.
  • We wish to use our God given talents and resources to help those around us in the journey of life.
  • We desire for our children and youth to grow into effective and strong members of the community that have a strong understanding of who they are both culturally and spiritually.
  • We are endeavouring to also impact the health and well being of our community through practical means.

What:

The projects that we will be working on are driven by Who we are and Why we do what do.  We wish to bring practical support to those in our community.

  • Our first three projects are all related to the October 09 Tsunami that tore through Samoa.  These three projects are Touch 4 Samoa, Reach 4 Samoa and the Shipping Container that is part of the Reach 4 Samoa project.  If you would like any further information please hit the links.
  • Hiva:  Is a Polynesian Dance group which is aimed at our young people living healthy lives whilst learning more about the culture of the Pacific Islands.
  • F.I.T stands for Fitness in Training.  This is a group that currently meets regularly to exercise and improve it’s fitness.  The hope of F.I.T that it is not just a once a week thing but impacts more widely on our diets and lifestyle and desires to change the way we look at our health and well being.

The   projects above are currently what we are working on but we hope and pray for a long future with many great projects in the pipeline as we endeavour to have a large impact in our community.  If you wish to learn more about these projects please use the contact us page to get in touch with us.
